Middle River Regional Jail does not publish a rolling Augusta County three-day release list. The official MRRJ roster is configured for people currently shown in custody. It has no public released-status selector, release-date range, or release-date column. The Augusta County Sheriff does not operate a separate local jail feed, and no official MRRJ or Sheriff jail-information mobile app was found as of the research date.
The useful replacement is an exact three-day request for existing MRRJ release records. Set the beginning and ending date and time instead of asking staff to decide what “recent” means. For one known person, use Virginia Jail VINE and call the jail. MRRJ’s main number is 540-245-5420. Its lobby is open 24 hours daily, and listed business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
MRRJ is a regional authority serving Augusta County along with Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, and Rockingham County. A facility-wide three-day report may therefore cover more than Augusta cases. Include the relevant booking, court locality, or other known identifier in a request. A precise scope helps the custodian locate the existing record and prevents a regional exit from being mislabeled as an Augusta County release.

A request tied to a named booking or an existing release report is more precise than an open-ended demand for everyone who “got out.”

Read Augusta Release Outcomes
“Release” needs a destination. Recognizance or bond ends physical jail custody while the charge remains pending. A dismissal, nolle prosequi, or acquittal is a case result that may cause release. Sentence completion ends the custodial part after MRRJ applies the commitment, time already served, and lawful sentence reductions. Probation may follow confinement or may be ordered without prison, so it is not proof of a past prison exit.
A transfer is different. Movement from MRRJ to VADOC, another jail, USMS, or ICE is not a return to the community. A detainer, which is another agency’s hold, can cause that direct transfer even after one custodian completes its part. Death and escape also remove a person from a normal jail unit, yet neither belongs on a community-release list.

A probation or parole district points to community supervision. VADOC updates daily, so an immediate move may still need phone or written confirmation. A no-result does not prove full discharge.
The same rule applies across the entire 72-hour span: require a positive release event, recorded date, or agency confirmation. There is no sound Augusta County released list made from people who vanished from yesterday’s current roster.
Preserve each source in its proper role. VINE supplies a custody-change alert. MRRJ supplies the institutional release record. The court supplies the legal order or disposition. VADOC supplies state custody and supervision status. Matching dates across those sources can strengthen the conclusion, while a conflict is a reason to contact the record custodian rather than guess which screen updated first.
